Samantha Hatcher Swann is Executive Director at Blossoms Care Service Ltd and recently achieved a Level 3 award in Education and Training thanks to the support from the POA Learning.
Samantha studied towards the qualification at a course delivered by the POA Learning Centre team at Eastchurch Prison on the Isle of Sheppey, and chose this particular course for both work or personal development.
Sam explained: “I have always been interested in gaining a training qualification as I felt this would be a natural progression of skill and assist me both in my role at Blossoms and within my volunteering role at the youth club.”
Gareth Williams and Beverley Nolker from the POA Learning Team supported Sam throughout the course which helped her understand the important of assessment, identify learners needs and adapte delivery dependant on the subject. It also helped Sam feel more confident.
Sam felt that the experience of studying was very positive. She said: “I felt the delivery of the course was fantastic. Time was given in between sessions to reflect and continue to develop knowledge and skill which strengthened the overall learning.”
Sam is now putting her new skills into action and has begun developing an internal training program within her company and is looking to start rolling this out within the next few weeks.
The experience of the POA Learning course has also re sparked Sam’s interest in learning and since completing the Level 3 qualification Sam has been able to complete “Train the Trainer” courses along with successfully completing Break away instructor training, with suction and nebuliser trained trainer courses already lined up.
Sam would encourage others to take up the opportunity of a POA Learning course if they get the opportunity and said: “I would promote that POA Learning do, the course was detailed and led by knowledgeable tutors. It was a good pace of learning and very supportive throughout.”
“I’d also like to thank both Gareth and Bev on their support to enable me to complete the award. Both tutors showed great understanding of the subject, whilst remaining patient and showing personality it was always a pleasure to attend the sessions.”
