Monday 8th June sees the start of National Carers Week, an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring and highlighting the challenges carers face throughout the UK.
The week also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much needed support.
Here at POA Learning, we have a number of courses available, free of charge, for anyone in the caring sector, or who are interested in finding out more about care ranging from online courses, fully accredited level 2 distance learning courses and CPD sessions.
There are 6.5 million people in the UK who are carers. They are looking after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness or who needs extra help as they grow older.
Caring's impact on all aspects of life from relationships and health to finances and work should not be underestimated, and carers are facing even more difficult circumstances this year. Whilst many feel that caring is one of the most important things they do, its challenges should not be underestimated. Caring without the right information and support can be tough.
There are plenty of resources to support carers on the carers week website at: carersweek.org
