Functional Skills

Functional Skills qualifications are designed to equip individuals above the age of 14 with practical skills in English, Maths and Information and Communications Technology (ICT). The qualifications provide skills and knowledge with the aim of improving competence and confidence to operate effectively at work and home. 

 

Covering all subjects that form the Functional Skills Curriculum at Entry Level 1 to Level 2, POA Learning offer flexible courses that are designed to help individuals with busy work and home lives access high quality training materials, and upskill to the required standards within a time frame that suits them. 

 

Our courses are available online and via blended learning. Once signed up*, learners will be allocated a tutor who will support and guide them through the qualification.

Level 2 Functional Skills Courses are equivalent to GCSE Grade 9 - 4 (previously A - C)

Mathematics qualifications assess three skills areas: 

- Representing

- Analysing 

- Interpreting 

English qualifications assess three components: 

- Reading

- Writing

- Speaking and Listening

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) qualifications assess three set of skills: 

- Using ICT systems

- Finding and selecting information 

- Developing, presenting and communicating
