Courses Available at Hatfield and Full Sutton

The staff at Hatfield Learning Centre are happy to discuss any courses that you might be interested in doing. Some we arrange with the Training Department at your place of work. Whilst others are courses of a general nature that might interest you.

Literacy and Numeracy

We have a wide variety of online Literacy and Numeracy courses available.  Each course is tailored to meet with learners individual requirements and build on their existing skills and knowledge.  Our flexible literacy and numeracy Courses will enable you to work towards achieving a nationally recognized qualification while providing valuable skills that will help you within your everyday life.
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)

ECDL is an ideal course for anyone who wants to know more about using computers.  The course starts by providing an introduction to the fundamentals of using IT.  The course focuses on the first steps in using a computer, providing explanations of the internet and email and how they can be used safely and productively.  Learners will then build on their initial experience and improve their understanding of computer applications including word-processing, spreadsheets and presentation software.  Upon completion Learners receive a Level 2 qualification which is recognized worldwide.

Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector - PTLLS

The course is aimed at people who would like, or require, an introduction to the roles and responsibilities of teaching, training and tutoring adult learners. The course is delivered in a classroom setting, though the attendance pattern can be discussed with your Training Dept, to try to meet local needs. The course is delivered over 45 hours and consists of taught sessions, workshops, tutorials, and micro-teach sessions.
PTLLS is a Level 4 Award – and as such requires a commitment to attend regularly and to meet the deadlines for the written work.
Candidates will be required to complete an initial assessment to determine their writing and reading skills. This assessment is not designed to discourage anyone from joining the course. It is designed to help the tutor structure the support to meet the learners’ needs
PTLLS is open to all, and is not solely for Prison Service staff. Please contact Hatfield Learning Centre for more information.

Do you require help in creating or updating your CV, or need help to complete a job application form.  We have qualified staff on hand in our learning centers who can provide careers advice and help out with creating or updating a CV or filling out job application forms.
